Abstract
In the context of globalization, national cultural identity plays a crucial role in shaping the identity of global citizens. This study surveyed students at Thang Long University to assess their awareness and behaviors related to the preservation of cultural identity. A quantitative method was employed, combining student surveys with document analysis and statistical data processing. The findings reveal that most students demonstrate positive awareness and clear behaviors in preserving and promoting traditional cultural values, such as participating in folk festivals, using standard Vietnamese, and actively introducing Vietnamese culture to international peers. Notably, students perceive national identity not as a barrier to integration but as an essential cultural capital for developing global competence. The study concludes that national identity and global citizenship are not contradictory but mutually supportive, and it recommends integrating identity education into global citizenship programs in higher education.
