ANIXIETY AMONG PARENTS OF CHILD WITH EPILEPSY AT NATIONAL PEDIATRICT HOSPITAL

Abstract
Objective: "To describe the state of anxiety status among parents of children with epilepsy at the National Pediatrict Hospital in 2022 and some related factors". Methods: We conducted an analytical descriptive cross-sectional study, 100 parents of children with epilepsy at National Pediatrict Hospital were interviewed by using the Vietnam translation of depression, anxiety and stress scale DASS-21. Results: 37.0% of researched objects appear to have anxiety (41.0% fathers and 34.4% mothers), in which 56.8% are moderate while 21.6% are mild, 10.8% are severe and 10.8% are extremely severe). The child's medical condition including mean number of seizures, effectiveness of treatment, and child's health insurance were significantly associated with parental anxiety (OR=7.77, 5.15, 3.29, p<0.05). Families with children with poor affordability, parents tend to be more anxious than families with good affordability (OR=3.84, p < 0.05). Conclusion: The anxiety rate among parents of children with epilepsy is relatively high. There was a significant association between mean number of seizures, effectiveness of treatment, children's health insurance, family ability to pay and parental anxiety.
