INFLUENCING FACTORS OF INEQUITY IN HEALTH SERVICES UTILIZATION IN RURAL AREA IN VIETNAM
Main Article Content
Abstract
The study uses VHLSS 2018 to analyze the factors affecting the inequality in the use of health services by people in rural areas. Through descriptive analysis, Poisson regression for the frequency of health service use and the concentration index (CI) decomposition method, the paper showed the contribution of the influencing factors to the extent of overall inequality in health services utilization. Research results showed that income disparity between households is an important factor in increasing inequality in the use of health services, benefiting the better-off group. Basic health insurance has contributed to reducing inequalities in the use of inpatient medical services, but not inequalities in using outpatient health services. The government should continue to improve the use of health services and meet the health service needs of low-income groups, and health policies must be expanded to cover disadvantaged groups with better efficiency.
