THANG LONG UNIVERSITY NURSING STUDENTS’ KNOWLEDGE AND PREVENTATIVE PRACTICES AGAINST COVID-19 DURING THEIR HOSPITAL-BASED CLINICAL PRACTICE IN 2022

Abstract
Objectives: This cross-sectional study was carried out with the aim of measuring as well as analyzing the level of knowledge about Covid-19 and preventative practices against COVID-19 of Thang Long University nursing students during their hospital-based clinical practice in 2022. Method: The research was conducted on 106 nursing students of Thang Long University during their hospital-based clinical practice from January to May 2022 and data were collected by means of self-administered survey questionnaires. Results: (1) The percentage of students with sufficient knowledge about Covid-19 and adequate preventative practices against Covid-19 was 43% and 62% respectively; (2) The level of knowledge about the prevention and fighting against Covid-19 of the surveyed male students was not higher than that of their female counterparts (p <0,05); (3) The group of students who have participated in anti-epidemic support scheme had better knowledge about Covid-19 and preventative practices against Covid-19 than those who had not taken part in this activity (p<0,05); (4) Students who lived near households that had Covid-19 infected members employed more effective preventative practices than those with this epidemiological factor (p < 0,05). Thang Long University nursing students during their hospital-based clinical practice in the Covid-19 pandemic is relatively low; (2) There is a close connection between the level of knowledge about Covid-19 and preventative practices against COVID-19 of Thang Long University nursing students and their gender, the number of Covid-19 infected cases in their neighborhood, their participation in anti-epidemic support scheme, their epidemiological factors, and their tertiary education stages.
