Abstract

This article introduces a modern, humanistic, and engaging approach to teaching the Vietnamese language. Despite the increased ease of international communication, many Vietnamese language learners still lack opportunities to immerse themselves in the Vietnamese language and culture. To address this issue, online distance learning has emerged as a timely solution, catering to the specific needs of learners who seek quality instructors and a diverse curriculum. However, many existing online learning programs remain technologically one-sided and rigid in content. With the philosophy of "learning through experience" and "learning through play," the research team proposes an idea for a Vietnamese language program hidden within an adventure game to explore Vietnamese culture and language based on learners' specific needs. Virtual reality technology will enhance the player's immersion into the language and cultural space, making it more natural and dynamic. Importantly, the program will feature automated communication between learners and the information management system, as well as real-time communication opportunities between learners and instructors when scheduled or requested. Additionally, there will be communication spaces for learners studying Vietnamese together. This program not only provides language skills and cultural knowledge but also emphasizes human values. Therefore, this idea could make a practical contribution to innovating the methods of teaching and learning Vietnamese as a foreign language and other languages in general.
