URGENT STATUS OF WORK MOTIVATION AMONG PREVENTIVE HEALTHCARE WORKERS AT THU DAU MOT CITY MEDICAL CENTER, BINH DUONG PROVINCE, 2025–2026

Abstract

Objective: To describe the current status of work motivation among preventive healthcare workers at Thu Dau Mot City Medical Center, Binh Duong Province, in 2025-2026. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted from March 2025 to April 2026 among 177 preventive healthcare workers working at the Medical Center and 12 commune health stations in Thu Dau Mot City. Results: The overall mean work motivation scores ranged from 3.53 to 4.15. The highest score was observed for “Being motivated to work hard” (3.67 ± 0.801). The domain of job value and personal competence ranged from 3.66 to 3.67, with the highest score for “Feeling that working at the Medical Center is valuable” (3.66 ± 0.731). Organizational commitment ranged from 3.51 to 3.66, with the highest score for “Feeling proud to work for the Medical Center” (3,66 ± 0,731).The dedication domain showed high scores (3.48 – 3.82), particularly “Doing necessary tasks without being reminded” (3.82 ± 0.813). Compliance with working hours was good, with “Always arriving at work on time” scoring 3.82 ± 0.87. However, some aspects of work motivation were at a moderate level, including financial motivation (2.48 ± 0.96) and alignment between personal and organizational values (3.53 ± 0.805). Conclusion: Work motivation among preventive healthcare workers at Thu Dau Mot City Medical Center was at a relatively good level, particularly in terms of dedication, perceived job value, and discipline. Nevertheless, improvements are needed in compensation policies, strengthening alignment between individual and organizational values, and enhancing occupational health support to sustain and further improve long-term work motivation among preventive healthcare staff.
