Phân tích ảnh hưởng của hội nhập kinh tế đến thu hút FDI: Vai trò trung gian của ngân hàng thương mại tại các nước ASEAN

Abstract
This paper examines the relationship between economic integration and the attraction of foreign direct investment (FDI) in ASEAN countries, while clarifying the intermediary role of the commercial banking system in this relationship. Using panel data from 10 ASEAN countries over the period 2000 – 2023 and two successive regression, the study confirms that economic integration has a positive effect on the development of the banking sector, and that a more developed banking system significantly supports FDI inflows. The results also indicate that part of the impact of economic integration on FDI is transmitted indirectly through the banking sector, highlighting the importance of financial intermediation as a key channel in the spillover mechanism. The study suggests that in addition to promoting integration, countries should also strengthen their financial institutional capacity, particularly the intermediary function of commercial banks, in order to fully leverage the opportunities brought by international economic agreements and enhance the effectiveness of FDI attraction.
