Abstract

The Library of the Institute of Social Sciences Information under the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, formerly the Library of the French Institute of the Far East (Ecole Francaise d'Extrême-Orient, EFEO) currently stores a large number of books, the magazine of Japanese authors writing about Vietnam. By means of Interdisciplinary Research, Historical Research, and Bibliographic Research..., through the Bibliography of Japanese Books compiled by the Institute of Social Sciences Information in 1970 and the Japanese Book Directory searched on the Internet today, the article will clarify the quantity and content of sources written about Vietnam by Japanese scholars in the early twentieth century; highlight the advantages and limitations of the two sets of Japanese bibliography mentioned above, and make some recommendations on the compilation and publication of Japanese books on Vietnam.
